To mark the 110th birthday of deceased KKL Founder General Hu Lien and the 40th anniversary of his demise, KKL Hu Lien Culture & Arts Foundation presents a series of activities for a duration of six months. The activities are educational and entertaining at the same time, an arrangement aimed at creating a friendly KKL fun park for visitors. Starting from Oct. 29, 2017 through Feb. 4, 2018, there are a total of six events, falling on Oct. 29, Nov. 12, Nov. 26, Dec. 24, Jan. 21, and Feb. 4 respectively. They are oriented towards parent-child interaction, allowing parents to help their children know more about General Hu and the KKL culture. Knowledge about the KKL will be taught in interactive ways that are easy to understand. The goal is to pass the KKL spirit and its tradition on to younger generations.
The “KKL Fun” takes liquor drinking culture as its theme, around which a series of activities revolve. What’s special is an installation art design that is modeled on an image of Kinmen’s famous Wind Lion God. It makes Wind Lion God become cute and fun to look at. In the six events that last for six months, there are various elements ranging from story-telling, lectures, dessert tasting, cuisine enjoyment, musical performance, to singing. A grand ceremony will be held at the Jinning factory of the KKL at 10 a.m., Oct. 29, 2017, Sunday, to mark the beginning of the series of events. On that day, there will be a challenge-defeating fair, which involves educational and cultural activities, DIY experience, game challenges, electronic interaction, and a lovely animal area. There will also be picnic days, on which people can sit on the ground and watch performances by the “Fun Troupe” from Taiwan. The performances are both educational and entertaining, enough to attract children with highly difficult acrobatics and constant interaction with them. There are three shows specially prepared for the Kinmen children. In the afternoon, Lemon Sister from the Magical Story Kingdom will tell stories about great discoveries made by General Hu. KKT Chairman and KKL Hu Lien Culture & Arts Foundation President Chang Ming-ren says General Hu was the KKL founder. The series of events are meant to recognize General Hu’s contribution to Kinmen. That’s why the events are educational at the same time. It is hoped that visitors, besides knowing more about the KKL, are also reminded of General Hu’s legacy.
