History

The History of KKL

Kinmen Kaoliang Liquor Corporation (KKL) was established in 1952 by the Commander of Kinmen Defense Command, General Hu Lian. The company just celebrated its 72th anniversary and has been through four major periods, namely start-up, development, prosperity, and transformation periods.

1.Start-up period

General Hu Lian appointed Colonel Zhou Sin-Chun as the first director of Jioulong River Distillery which officially operated on February 1, 1953. The distillery changed its name to Kinmen Distillery when the Fukien Provincial Government relocated to Taiwan.

2.Development period

金城廠舊大門

In December 1977, Kinmen Distillery was officially included in the national monopoly sales system and sales to mainland Taiwan became available. In the meantime, Kinmen Distillery promoted sales in foreign markets and gained a great international reputation.

3.Prosperity period

In 1992, the civil affairs military government operation in Kinmen was terminated and Kinmen Distillery was reorganized to be affiliated with Kinmen County Government. Moreover, a novel distribution policy was approved and resulted in the elimination of the sales quota in Taiwan. The new era of liquor sales then began. Regarding the increase in market demand, Jinning Distillery started construction in 1992 and officially operated in February 1997.

4.Transformation period

金寧廠

On February 16, 1998, Kinmen Distillery was reorganized as Kinmen Kaoliang Liquor Corporation. Since then, the company has not only recruited elites from various domains to infuse new energy but also continuously improved production skills and developed new products. Moreover, consumer first was considered to be the business philosophy of the company.
In 2004, a subsidiary was registered in Xiamen to form Kinmen Kaoliang Liquor (Ximen) Trading Corporation to expand the market in Mainland China with great efforts.
