The KKL’s Double Gold-winning liquor for use in the BRICS Summit in Xiamen

The KKL’s Classic Edition “Red Dragon” is selected as a liquor for consumption in the 2017 BRICS Summit In Xiamen, mainland China
In September 2017, the high-profile 2017 BRICS Summit took place in Xiamen. It was the second time that mainland China had hosted the annual summit since the summit was held for the third time in 2011 Sanya, Hainan Island. With its international reputation and products circulating between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait, the KKL was greatly honored to play a part in the summit.

The KKL enjoys a market share of over 80% in the Taiwan liquor market. Having been in operation for 65 years beyond a 60-year cycle, the KKL always insists on doing things in a “serious” way and adopting the corporate philosophy of “making good liquor and selling good liquor forever and a day.” It is blessed to own four ideal conditions for liquor-making: good water quality, suitable climate, outstanding craftsmenship, and perfect storage cellars. It follows the traditional solid-state fermentation method without adding spices. Such insistence is aimed at making high-quality liquors that are the best in the market and developing Kinmen Kaoliang Liquor into the “King of Baijiu” as now known around the world. It now seeks to expand its products to the Chinese market while actively participating in major liquor conferences in a bid to get the best marketing opportunities. For the Bricks Summit in Xiamen, Kinmen County Commissioner Chen Fu-hai travelled between the two sides not only for political talks but also to help the KKL expand its business and play a part in the BRICS Summit. Under the joint efforts of authorities concerned and the KKL staff, Kinmen Kaoliang Liquor was eventually selected as a drink to entertain participants in the BRICS Summit. It was present at the welcoming reception of the 2017 BRICS Business Summit, marking the first Taiwan-made liquor to be drunk at an international conference in China. It also represents that Kinmen Kaoliang Liquor has been recognized once again by the international community for its consistent good quality and insistence on quality.

After a careful selection of liquors for the BRICS Summit, the KKL decided to choose the 2016 and 2017 “Excellent Distillation 0.5L-56% Treasure Collection of Kinmen Kaoliang Liquor Gift Box,” which has won gold medals for two consecutive years in international competitions, as the liquor to entertain participants in the summit. It is made from a single aged base liquor that has been stored in cellars for years. Its making utilizes the traditional mixing skills. The liquor embodies the KKL’s unique “three highs, two lows, and one turn” solid-state fermentation craft. It has been stored in granite caves for years. It sends out fresh aroma. It does not taste spicy, bitter or astringent. It leaves long-lasting pleasant smell in the mouth. The overall design of the liquor is characterized by mixing a Chinese-style red gift box and a red dragon pattern. It represents much happiness and flying high like a dragon. It also indicates a well-wishing to the 9th BRICS Summit. It is hoped the relationships between participating nations will become better and better. As the BRICS Summit is moving towards its first decade, the KKL is ready to push forward its development in the Chinese market for the next decade. It is committed to producing good-quality liquor while deepening its market penetration to allow more people to taste excellent liquor from Kinmen.
