Origin: The line “In search of Baoyue Spring for the fondness of Kinmen liquor” from a 1957 poem by General Chia-Hsiang Chao, a scholarly serviceman during the Sino-Japanese War II of 1937-1945, fully revealed his passion for Kinmen’s sorghum liquor. For its 60th anniversary, KKL launched the Baoyue Spring Kinmen Kaoliang Liquor (ABV 46%) to pay tribute to this celebrated general.
Package design: In addition to imitating the shape of the Baoyue Spring, the octagonal bottle design also symbolizes “fortune” as it is homophonic to “fortune” in Mandarin and “peace” as it uses the same character used in the “eight trigrams”. It resembles a smooth liquor flowing from an ancient spring when poured. Alongside the golden pattern on the cap, the overall design symbolizes clear flowing water, the red bottom label has the luster of an ancient well, and the golden characters in calligraphy represent that the sorghum liquor is as pure as gold, while the full moon pattern at the bottom symbolizes the reunion of friends and relatives during festivals.
Liquor: Perfect running water from the granite layer and select sorghum grains create a smooth and sweet taste. The light mouthfeel of the Baoyue Spring Kinmen Kaoliang Liquor has a hint of fennel with a basil aroma to enliven the overall taste. This product is a new option for consumers.
