Origin: To celebrate its 70th anniversary, KKL launched the collectible Golden 70th Memorial Kinmen Kaoliang Liquor through cross-field cooperation with artist Tong Yangtze. The label design adopts the calligraphic work “如金” (lit. as gold) Tong. The work owes its origin to the Odes of Wei in the Book of Poetry: “There is our elegant and accomplished prince, [pure] as gold or as tin, [soft and rich] as a sceptre of jade!” This is like KKL’s insistence on its unchanged distillation mastery over the past seven decades, enabling KKL to turn “time” into gold and make the best-quality sorghum liquor.

Package design: The design details of the “Golden 70th Memorial Kinmen Kaoliang Liquor” are seen everywhere. The bottle is hand-crafted by handmade glass studio Spring Pool Glass (SPG). Unlike mass-produced products, the skills of shokunins accumulated for over 50 years have given each bottle a unique texture and warmth, making each a collectible of its own. Tong’s calligraphic work “70如金” is best presented with hot foil stamping gold on the wove paper. These golden characters look exceptionally noble on the black label. By hand-gluing each label on the bottle, KKL expresses its gratitude to each lover of KKL’s sorghum liquor. The wooden exterior box brings the message: standing the test of time is what accomplishes KKL’s global leadership of baijiu, everlasting and ever new!

Liquor: The 5-year-aged (VSO) KKL sorghum liquor is selected for the Golden 70th. After preparation with KKL’s legacy solid grain fermentation, the liquor is aged in the cellar for five years. With the natural cool air in the cellar, aroma blends and liquor are enriched to deliver an immaculately sweet and smooth taste and long-lasting finish. To celebrate KKL’s 70th anniversary, the food-grade gold foil is added to the liquor to make it blink when being shaken and taste smooth and warm, bringing a perfect balance of vision and taste.
