Origin: This is a special order of the National Palace Museum (NPM) to celebrate its 90th anniversary and the grand opening of The Hub of Asia Diversity at its Southern Branch. This is also a three-party cooperation project among NPM, KKL, and Franz Collection Inc. Under the project, four stunning Franz porcelain bottles are designed based on the following four NMP collections: Flower Basket by Kao Li of the Song dynasty, Paintings on Up the River During Qingming of the Qing court version, Palampore with the Tree of Life Pattern of India, and Inlaid Urn from the Mughal Empire. Based on the age of liquors: 18 years, 8 years, 19 years, and 5 years of premium Kinmen sorghum liquor, products are named: Amidst the Flowers a Jug of Wine, Peace and Joy, NMP Southern Branch Anniversary, and Fine Wine.
Package design: Paintings on Up the River During Qingming of the Qing court version were made by five court painters: Chen Mei, Sun You, Jin Kun, Dai Hong, and Cheng Zhi-Dao in the first year of the rein of Emperor Qianlong. These paintings depict the prosperous scenes on both sides of the Bian River in Kaifeng during Qingming Festival (Tomb-Sweeping Day). Scenes in the paintings include drama, monkey performances, acrobatics, and boxing for us to understand aspects of life in those days.
Liquor: The 8-year-old (XO) sorghum liquor is made based on KKL’s legacy solid grain fermentation process.
